A doorbell, facade or shop camera is mounted for a purpose that ends at the property line, and its field of view does not. The pavement, the road, the entrance opposite or a neighbour's garden is recorded continuously and kept on the same schedule as the footage the purpose does cover.

Everyone who walks past ends up in a recording held by a party whose premises they never entered. Over time it becomes a record of who passes when and with whom, in exactly the places people cannot avoid. The person cannot see how far the lens reaches, and often cannot tell whether the camera works at all.

It is my own camera on my own house.
The camera is yours and the pavement is not. Where the view reaches ground you do not control, the exemption for purely personal use stops covering it, and the ordinary duties apply to what is recorded there.
It only records when something moves.
Then it records everyone who moves past. A trigger limits the volume of footage, not the reach of the lens.
Nobody ever looks at the footage.
Recording is processing whether or not anyone watches. What matters is what is captured, who can reach it and how long it is kept.
